CELEBRATING BASTILLE DAY
YourWeeklyMenu asked Caroline Edwards, a young French woman married to Australian Christian Edwards, what she would make for Bastille Day.
Caroline is passionate about good food and still finds time to cook despite her busy job as Marketing Manager with Porters’ Paints in Sydney.
Caroline shared the following recipes with us for her suggested French Bastille Day dinner:
Aperitif with drinks
Tapenade … served on Baguette slices
Entrée

Capsicum Tatin (upside down capsicum tart)
Main
Veal Blanquette
(says Caroline – "this is a DELICIOUS, very traditional, really creamy stew, that my husband Chris just loves. It’s really popular in winter")
Sweets

“You can’t go past the favourite CREPES (French pancakes), which are traditionally served on 2nd February. They are really simple, and make a fun afternoon of preparation and cooking time with kids.
French people’s favourite fillings with crepes are chocolate (Nutella is the best); jam; lemon and sugar; chocolate and almonds (that have been cooked in butter) and for an extra indulgence, add Chantilly (whipped cream). SO good!”
BON APPETIT!
