CHARITY AND FOOD

'Relish'  Project Manager, Julia Topliss, says the ‘Relish 2010’ publication is in its second year of production and welcomes the support this year from the Rotary Clubs of Prahran, Malvern, Melbourne South, and Balwyn. The project aims to raise over $80,000 for local and international charities.

The charities that benefit from proceeds of the sale of ‘Relish 2010, Great Food For a Good Cause’ are Sacred Heart Mission, a program that serves over 450 meals every day; Polio Plus and its fight against Polio; Reclink, an organisation that provides sporting, social and arts activities to enhance the lives of disadvantaged people; an international Water Wells Project in Cambodia;  the Prahran Mission’s programs that assist people experiencing economic disadvantage and/or mental illness; Inclusion Melbourne - a not-for-profit organisation that assists people with intellectual disabilities to create highly individualised and flexible lifestyles based on their needs and wants; Very Special Kids, an organisation that currently supports over 840 families throughout their experience of caring for children with life-threatening illnesses;  FareShare that gives up to 1 million meals per year to over 100 local food charities, all prepared by volunteers and using donated quality surplus food.

The recipes contained in the book are contributed by cooks and chefs from Melbourne cafes and restaurants and are delicious! See our recipe for the innovative grape and ricotta pudding by Shelley Panton.
